Donna Hughes

Donna Sue Hughes, age 56, of Whelen Springs, passed from this life on Tuesday December 31, 2024, at her home. She was born on January 6, 1968, in Malvern, the daughter of the late Sam and Faye Sims Cooper.

Donna was a 1986 graduate of Gurdon High School. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Donna enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, Joe Hughes and her mother-in-law, Gail Hughes, one brother, Sammy Cooper and one granddaughter, Raylynn Hughes.

Donna is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Hughes, three sons, Jimmy Joe Hughes (Amber) of Amity, Sam Hughes of Whelen Springs, B. J. Hughes (Ashley) of Gurdon, one brother Jimmy Cooper (Diann) of Whelen Springs, one sister, Lynn Lunsford of Sparkman, two nephews, Robbie Lunsford and J. W. Cooper (Makisha), ten grandchildren, Ryan Hughes, Brooklyn Hughes, Gracelyn Bryant, Payton Hughes, Aiden Hughes, Landon Johnson, Tristen Hughes, Layken Hughes, Dani Hughes, and Natalee Hughes.

Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whelen Springs with Justin Myers officiating. 

Pallbearers are Sam Hughes, J. W. Cooper, Daniel Martin, Robbie Lunsford, Thomas Ellis, David Dickerson, Josh Purifoy, and Matt Dickerson.
