LAKE VILLAGE, Arkansas — Detectives are probing two homicides over the weekend in the southeastern corner of the state. Both cases were shootings, according to authorities with Arkansas State Police.
The agency’s Criminal Investigation Division was requested at the Desha County town of McGehee on the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, when police there discovered the body of 20-year-old Kevin Morgan in the driver’s seat of a white Chevy Avalance parked on the side of a North Street home in a residential area of the city. Morgan appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the back of his head, ASP said in a news release. His body was transported to the state Crime Lab to determine cause and manner of death.
The next evening, Dec. 15, state detectives were called to the scene of a fatal shooting in the neighboring Chicot County seat of Lake Village, about 20 miles south of McGehee. Two individuals were shot at an apartment complex. One of the victims, Lake Village resident Markell Lamber, 20, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Lamber’s body, too, is at the Crime Lab for determination of manner and cause of death. A 17-year-old boy was also shot; he was treated at Chico Memorial Medical Center and released from the hospital.
Special agents with CID later arrested Antario Andrews, 22, also of Lake Village, in connection with Sunday’s shooting. Andrews has been charged with capital murder.
Investigations are ongoing in both shootings.
