Jimmy Thrasher

Jimmy Wayne Thrasher, age 69, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock.  He was born October 20, 1955, in Rector, AR, the son of the late Junior Eugene and Esther Marie Bass Thrasher.  

Jimmy was a 1974 graduate of Gurdon High School. He worked in the sawmills as a forklift driver and manufacturing along the way. Jimmy also worked for Fafner’s for a number of years before it closed. He was a member of Beirne Baptist Church.  Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and most of all spending time with his grandkids.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Kaitlyn Kelly, one grand-daughter, Lucille Davis and one son in law, Kelly Whisenhunt.

Survivors are his wife, Joyce Sutton Thrasher, of Gurdon, two sons, Jeremy Davis (Jessica) of Batesville and Eddie Davis of Arkadelphia, three daughters, Wendy Thrasher of Arkadelphia, Tasha Welch of Malvern and Mitzi Bolt (Jeremy) of Arkadelphia, one sister, Kathy Freeman (Phillip) of Sparkman, nine grandchildren, Courtney Lee Jones (Jared), Nathan Bolt, Collin Davis, Trent Nolen, Heather Bolt, Aaron Davis, Blakely Davis, Caleb Davis and Stella Davis, five great-grandchildren, Levi James, Josie Nolen, Kynlea Ellis, Leah Ellis and Clayton Ellis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2024, at Beech Street Baptist Church with Bro. Frank Henson, Bro. Donnie Deaton and Bro. Mryton Thomas officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Welch Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery at Curtis with Bro. James Cox officiating.

Memorials may be made to Beirne Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are grandchildren, Collin Davis, Caleb Davis, Nathan Bolt, Blakely Davis, Trent Nolen, Austin Taylor, Aaron Davis and Ben Williams.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Schee, Johnathan Schee and Levi James.
