Potential Tropical Cyclone Six is in the southern Gulf of Mexico on Monday, Sept. 9, and moving northwest at 5 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph.
The current track has this system moving through Arkansas on Thursday.
Areas along the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast will see impacts, including storm surge, strong winds, heavy rain and isolated tornadoes.
For Arkansas, impacts will be limited to locally heavy rainfall across the eastern half of the state Wednesday night and Thursday.
Wednesday brings a 30% chance of showers to the Arkadelphia area, mainly after 1 p.m. Chances increase to 50% Wednesday evening.
Forecast rainfall amounts are expected to be between 2-4 inches across the eastern half of the state as a tropical system moves near the state Wednesday night through Thursday. Forecasted rainfall totals for the Arkadelphia area are 1-2 inches.
On Thursday afternoon, another potential round of showers and thunderstorms could bring precipitation to Clark County. A north wind could bring gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of rain is 50%.
Sunny skies will return by Friday and into the weekend, with highs in the 80s.
