Dispatch Desk: Aug. 26 – Sept. 4

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Arkadelphia Police Department

Monday, Aug. 26
10:26 a.m.
Officers were requested at Southview Apartments, 655 S. 5th St., where a resident believed juveniles were responsible for damage done to her potted plants. The property manager made contact with the juveniles’ grandmother and explained she would be held responsible for the damages should there be proof that the juveniles in fact caused the damage.

7:21 p.m.
An officer took a delayed report over the phone from a Texas woman who said that, on Aug. 24, at the 1200 block of North 10th Street, a known Malvern man threatened to shoot up her car if a woman known to him didn’t exit the vehicle, then assaulted her when she did exit. Another passenger soon arrived at the police department and gave a verbatim account of the incident. Both women were advised of warrant procedures, and that the assaulted passenger would need to come forward in order to complete an investigation.

Police heard a female’s complaint of a male subject violating a protection order by texting the complainant. No arrest was made.

Tuesday, Aug. 27
1:10 a.m.
Officers were summoned to the 1600 block of Gresham Street for a report of a theft of a leaf blower that had just occurred. A resident told police that a neighbor witnessed the theft, and that the suspect, donning Army fatigues and a backpack, fled toward Phillips Street. A search for the suspect was unfruitful.

Police investigated a second-degree battery at the 800 block of Wade Street. No additional details are available as felony incident reports at the Arkadelphia Police Department may not be seen by members of the public.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

Juvenile report: Criminal Mischief

4:20 p.m.
A man summoned police to his residence to report that he had found a purse in the street on the north end of Forest Park Drive. Police took the purse, which contained nearly $300 in cash as well as the owner’s ID, and secured it in lost and found after an attempt to phone the owner was unsuccessful. The next evening the owner, a Hot Springs woman, dropped by to reclaim the purse.

5:22 p.m.
An officer responded to Walgreens for an employee’s complaint of verbal threats made by a customer during a merchandise exchange. The clerk was advised of warrant procedures.

Juvenile report: Information only

8:41 p.m.
Officers were requested at Baptist Health Medical Center for an intoxicated patient trying to leave, but upon arrival were told the patient had calmed down and their assistance was no longer needed. A short time later an officer returned to the hospital to assist with a helicopter landing, and while on scene heard an alarm and observed a nurse outside struggling with a subject outside the emergency room exit. The officer approached the subject, identified as Barney Herbert Humphries Jr., 60, who reportedly failed to respond to verbal commands to halt and walked away. Following a brief resistance, Humphries was placed under arrest and transported to the jail, where he was cited for public intoxication and refusal to submit to arrest. Officers would learn that Humphries had escaped from care after hospital staff initially called off their first complaint. The incident marked the second time in recent weeks that police were summoned to the hospital to arrest an intoxicated Humphries, a Bismarck resident.

Police investigated the theft of a motor vehicle at the 100 block of North 20th Street. We can’t provide any additional details from the felony incident report because the Arkadelphia Police Department doesn’t allow us to inspect such reports.

Police investigated a report of financial identity fraud at a North Park Drive residence. Additional details weren’t available because it’s a felony report.

Thursday, Aug. 29
3:07 p.m.
A Banks Road man reported losing his wallet, likely at a West Pine Street convenience store.

5:24 p.m.
Stanley Kennel, 49, of Arkadelphia, was arrested at 618 S. 4th St. for violating a protection order following a complaint from the petitioner. The report does not indicate how the order had been violated.

Police investigated a breaking or entering at storage units at the 2500 block of Country Club Road. Additional details weren’t available as the incident was filed as a felony.

Friday, Aug. 30
12:30 a.m.
Officers were called to Lark Place for a complaint of an intoxicated female beating on doors and disturbing neighbors. Police made contact with the suspect, Fareaster Daryell Brim, 44, who appeared agitated that the complainant phoned police because she walked past her security camera and flipped it off. After denying a courtesy transport to another location so she could retire for the night, Brim surrendered to arrest but was uncooperative with police, ultimately becoming combative and being placed in a restraint chair, from which she attempted to bite the arresting officer twice. She was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

6:40 a.m.
Police investigated a welfare concern involving a female threatening self harm.

10:19 a.m.
An officer took a delayed report of a parking lot hit-and-run that happened at Nightingale Nursing Home.

Police investigated a commercial burglary at the 100 block of North 20th Street. Additional details weren’t available because the Arkadelphia Police Department doesn’t allow the public to see felony incident reports.

Police investigated an aggravated assault at the 1600 block of North 15th Street. The incident being a felony means we can’t provide more information because we can’t see those reports.

4:09 p.m.
A North 17th Street woman reported the theft of a Craftsman self-propelled lawnmower with a 21-inch deck from a shed out back.

Saturday, Aug. 31
Police investigated a residential burglary somewhere on 13th Street. That’s all we know because it’s a felony investigated by Arkadelphia police.

Sunday, Sept. 1
10:11 a.m.
A woman reported leaving her purse next to the air compressor at Tiger Mart, 203 N. 10th St. She said she used the machine to inflate her vehicle tires and, in a rush to get to church, left the purse.

Monday, Sept. 2
11:05 p.m.
Officers responded to a 911 call of a domestic disturbance from a residence at the 1400 block of Caddo Street.

Police investigated a commercial burglary at the 2500 block of Country Club Road.

A deputy was summoned to 591 Vaden Road for an abandoned vehicle, previously wrecked, in the ditch. It was towed to Beene’s.
