Mary Alice Smith, age 89, of Donaldson, passed from this life on Sunday August 24, 2024, at Encore Health in Malvern and met her husband Joe at the pearly gates. She was born on January 30, 1935, in Byrdstown, TN, the daughter of the late John and Mary Matilda Zachory Walker.
Mary retired from Levi Strauss and Pactiv. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, shopping, loved going to the river camp and being part of her family’s life, and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Smith, three sisters, and one great grandchild, Erica Schales.
Survivors are one son, Ronnie Smith (Rhonda) of Donaldson, three daughters, Connie Schales of Malvern, Cathy Clement of Arkadelphia, and Lisa Norwood (Joey) of Donaldson, eight grandchildren, Dawn Starkey, Scott Schales, Bryan Smith, John Mark Clement, Leslie Morrison, Crystal Efird, Brooke Gourley, and Jarrett Norwood, thirteen great grandchildren, Ethan Campbell, Skylar Starkey, Madison Schales, Chase Morrison, Avery Smith, Wyatt Clement, Reid Clement, Kylee Morrison, Brylee Efird, Tynlee Efird, Ava Kate Efird, Amber Schales, Nora Gourley, and one sister, Evelyn Staton of Albany, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday August 28, 2024, at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. Charlie Williams officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday August 27, 2024.
Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery at Okolona.
Pallbearers are Scott Schales, Bryan Smith, John Mark Clement, Jarrett Norwood, Chase Morrison, Avery Smith, Wyatt Clement, and Reid Clement. Honorary pallbearers are Ethan Campbell, grand-daughters and great grand-daughters
Memorials can be made to the Smyrna Cemetery Fund.
