It has come to our attention that a letter has been mailed to various businesses and churches in Arkadelphia, and that the anonymous sender used the arkadelphian.com logo and our Post Office box number as the return address on the envelope.
The Arkadelphian does not use postal services to distribute news reports or editorials.
The letter further includes the City of Arkadelphia’s logo as the letterhead and gives the appearance that The Southern Standard newspaper and two individuals played a part in the composition of the correspondence. Neither entity played a role in sending the letter.
“The unauthorized use of our logo to distribute information was a cowardly move on the sender’s part,” said The Arkadelphian founder and publisher Joel Phelps. “Any business, individual, organization or church that was a recipient of this correspondence should put this junk mail where it belongs: in the garbage.”
The U.S. Postal Service in Arkadelphia and the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office have been notified of the situation.
