Thomas Steve Coon, age 77, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Friday, July 12, 2024, at CHI St. Vincent Medical Center in Hot Springs. He was born October 14, 1946, in Gurdon, the son of the late Conway Luther and Effie Gertrude Brown Coon.
Steve graduated from Arkadelphia High School. He was a self-employed Carpenter and painter for many years. He was a United States veteran of Vietnam. Steve was a member of Beirne Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching sports in his free time.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Clois, Conrad, Joel, Donald and Billy Wayne Coon, and one sister, Joyce Quillin.
Survivors are his wife Wanda Coon of Gurdon, two daughters, Deana Ledbetter (Jimmy Lee) of Pine Bluff and Nancy Norman (David) of Caddo Valley, two sisters, Myrle Pierce (Boyd) of Arkadelphia and Theresa “Scoot” Thornton (Gary) of Bismarck, four grandchildren, Stephen Ledbetter (John), Raye Ann Ledbetter (Seth), Hunter Fulton and Emily Fulton, three great-grandchildren, Dixie Lee Riley, RayLee “Trouble” Riley and Maverick Riley.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Easley Cemetery with Bro. Frank Henson officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Welch Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Donnie Deaton, Miles McKenzie, Mike McKenzie, Bryan Watson, Doug Brumley and Jeff Clemon.
Memorials may be made to Beirne Baptist Church.
