The Clark County Quorum Court on Monday again referred separate expenditures related to the county’s museum and historical association back to the court’s Budget Committee.

The court learned at its March meeting that the Clark County Arkansas Museum — the nonprofit organization managing the train depot in Arkadelphia — is hoping the county will match the monthly $500 the City of Arkadelphia offers for its services to the community. The matter was sent then to the Budget Committee, which gave unanimous approval of the funding but apparently didn’t note where in the budget the money would come from.

Similarly, the Clark County Historical Association had requested a one-time $1,500 expense to aid that separate organization in publishing costs.

District 7 Justice Jenna Scott (R-Joan) took issue with the committee not clarifying where the funding would come from. At Scott’s motion and with little discussion, both items were sent back to committee.

The full court was, however, OK with other items that came out of the previous committee meeting, including a $1,000 expense for the county judge’s office to have an as-yet undisclosed property appraised, as well as up to $65,000 for bids on roof repairs at the Clark County Court Complex.

In related financial matters, the court gave unanimous approval to establish an Opioid Settlement Grant Fund to track revenues made available to drug court through the Administrative Office of the Courts. The county currently has $22,005 for that account to provide support and restorative services for drug court participants.

Justices also gave their nod of approval to a resolution authorizing the county to continue seeking grants for a regional trail system.
