Building Permits: Arkadelphia train depot to undergo $3.7M upgrade

The City of Arkadelphia issued 12 building permits with an estimated construction value of $3,862,600 for the month of March 2024. The year-to-date value of construction jobs in Arkadelphia now totals $5.5 million.

Records were obtained from the city’s Building Department under the Freedom of Information Act and include valuations of work except where omitted from reports. Here’s a rundown of permits issued in March 2024:

Union Pacific filed a permit to remove the platform and provide drainage improvements to the train depot at 798 S. 5th St. The work also includes altering the existing restrooms at the station, bringing them in compliance with the American Disabilities Act. The estimated construction value was listed as $3,780,000.

Union Pacific announced in February that it intends to invest $3.4 billion in 2024 to “support safe operations, renew assets and grow with customers” across its 23-state footprint.

The contractor named in the filing is Centennial Contractors Enterprises Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina. STV Group of Douglasville, Pennsylvania, is the architect for the job, and Arora Engineers Inc. of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is the engineer.
