Heavy rain fell in the Columbia County area early Friday. Magnolia schools and Southern Arkansas University closed due to excessive rainfall.

The National Weather Service placed Columbia, Lafayette and Union counties, and the southern parts of Ouachita and Calhoun counties, under a flash flood warning until 8:30 a.m.

At 8 a.m., magnoliareporter.com recorded 6.86 inches of rain since a storm system entered the region about 2 a.m. Light rain was still falling.
