Martha Sue Smith, age 88, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Nightingale Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. She was born January 13, 1936, in Gurdon, the daughter of the late Harold and Georgia Mae Williams Copeland.
Martha attended Henderson State University. She was the manager of the Garrison Reddie Café at Henderson State for a number of years. Martha also worked for Hollywood Vassarette for over twenty years and Aalfs Manufacturing for several years.
She was a member of Lakeview 4-H Club, Ladies VFW Auxiliary of Caddo Valley, and an Avon sales rep. for many years. Martha was a member of Third Street Baptist Church. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, enjoyed artwork, horse racing and slot machines in her free time.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dwayne Smith and one nephew, Steve Bledsoe.
Survivors are one son, Gary Randall Smith (Welda) of Bauxite, two daughters, Velinda Wells (Jeff) of Arkadelphia and Cathy Sue McPeake of Hooks, TX, one sister, Maxine Bledsoe (Lewis) of Arkadelphia, six grandchildren, Natasha McPeak, Kelvin McPeak (Jessica), Colby Wells (Terri), Nathan Wells (Kortney), Kyle Smith and Sunny Scott (Jazz) and eight great grandchildren and several nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Welch Funeral Home with Teddy Hill officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
