
Jimmie “James” Leslie Hendrix, age 85, of the DeGray Community, passed from this life on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at his home. He was born December 13, 1938, in Stratford, OK, the son of the late Henry Gipson and Dollie Mae Black Hendrix.
James graduated from Arvin High School and attended Rio Hondo College. He was the owner and operator of Arkadelphia Window and Door Company for many years. He was a member of DeGray Baptist Church. James enjoyed sitting on his patio watching the birds, wildlife and being outdoors. His greatest joy was being with his family and being involved in his church.
James was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Zetta Mae Blankenship and Este Lee Hay, four brothers, Bud Hendrix, O.V. Hendrix, Ivan Hendrix and Bill Hendrix, and his son-in-law, Michael Maroney.
Survivors are his wife of sixty-four years, Erma Murch Hendrix of DeGray, one daughter, Lora Hendrix Maroney of Arkadelphia, one son, James Hendrix (Donna) of Morrow, OH, three grandchildren, Lanna Fendley (Ken), and their children, Wesley and Sulley Fendley, all of Bossier City, LA, Seth Hendrix (Julia), and their children, Peter, Isaac and Joey Hendrix, all of Shreveport, LA, and Gip Hendrix (Caitlyn), and their daughter, Jaci Hendrix, all of Haughton, LA.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Bro. David Young and Bro. Mike Hipps officiating.
No visitation is planned.
Pallbearers are Seth Hendrix, Gip Hendrix, Ken Fendley, Bud Hipps, Mike Hipps, John Smith, David Lyp and David Kinder.
