DeGray Lake Resort State Park has set four December 2023 dates for visitors to take part in a guided lake tour to watch for bald eagles
At this paid event, visitors will join a park interpreter for a cruise on the lake and spend an hour in search of wintering bald eagles, ospreys, loons, herons, grebes, ducks and more.
Each cruise embarks at 2 p.m. from the state park marina. Below are the planned dates for the eagle watching cruises:
Saturday, Dec. 16, 2-3 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 17, 2-3 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 23, 2-3 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 31, 2-3 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to take a pair of binoculars and to dress warm, as it is noticeably colder and windier on the lake than on land. Interpreters strongly suggest dressing in layers and to bring more warm clothing than needed.
The cost for each cruise is $14 for adults; $8 for children ages 6-12; and free for children 5 and under.
Reservations can be made beginning noon the day before at the lodge front desk, (501) 865-5851. Stop by the lodge to pay before heading to the marina with your receipt. Arrive at the marina 10-15 minutes early so the boat may depart on time.
