The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was preparing for the 25th annual DeGray Lake Shoreline Cleanup.

30 years ago (1993)

Ouachita Baptist University reported its enrollment rose 40% over the previous year, with 1,400 overall students and 533 freshmen — which at the time was the largest group since 1973.

A group of 16 Tennessee teenagers were featured in an article following a three-day “adventure trip” canoeing the Ouachita River from Remmel Dam to Arkadelphia. It was noted that the group was debating whether to continue floating to El Dorado or end their journey in Arkadelphia.
