The halls of Peake Elementary School were packed Thursday afternoon for open house, which was held at each of Arkadelphia Public Schools’s four campuses. Superintendent Nikki Thomas said the latest statistics show 1,848 pupils are expected to begin classes in Arkadelphia on Monday, Aug. 14. Thomas said she expects that figure to fluctuate during the first couple weeks of school due to summer family moves. “There was a great turnout at all schools,” Thomas said of the open houses. “Everyone seemed excited about starting back on Monday.”
