State report: Jobless rate continues falling in Clark County, south Arkansas

Clark County’s unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) is at 3.2% for April 2023, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released this month by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services. This is down from 3.7% in March.

According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 8,657 persons with 8,382 employed and 275 unemployed in April. This compares to March’s labor force of 8,362 with 8,055 employed and 307 unemployed.

Of the six neighboring Southwest Arkansas counties surveyed, five showed improvements and one showed no change in employment rates from March to April. Counties are listed with their county seats in parentheses: i.e., Clark County (Arkadelphia):

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) is at 3.3% for April, down slightly from 3.4% in March. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,660.

The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) is at 2.6% for April, down from 2.8% in March. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 14,049.

The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) is at 3.6% for April, down from 4% in March. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 2,977.

The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) is at 2.5% for April, down from 2.7% in March. Nevada County reports a labor force of 3,459.

The unemployment rate for Ouachita County (Camden) is at 3.1% for April, down from 3.3% in March. Ouachita County reports a labor force of 9,701.

The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) is at 2.7% for April, with no change from the 2.7% reported in March. Pike County reports a labor force of 4,100.
