PHOTOS: Clark County holds Memorial Day ceremony

About 50 people attended the 2023 Memorial Day celebration held Monday, May 29, at the Clark County Courthouse gazebo. Doyle Sharp of the American Legion was emcee for the event. Members of Arkadelphia High School JROTC posted the colors. The Rev. Alvin Newburn led the prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Emma Nelson.

Myra Bailey’s stellar performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” had those in attendance singing along. Col. Phil Foster then provided a report of JROTC numbers. Emma Nelson provided the roll call of Clark County’s fallen veterans since last Memorial Day. County judge Troy Tucker and Robert Davis posted the Memorial Wreath. JROTC members Perry Nelson and Seth Molinari performed “Taps” ahead of speaker Greg Sporier, retired Air Force technician and now family therapist for the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs. Clark County veterans services officer Louis Craig gave the final remarks and benediction.
