Henderson State University and the Golden Lion Battalion ROTC program recognized the sacrifices and service of over 100 Vietnam-era veterans, their families and friends during a Vietnam Welcome Home Ceremony that took place on April 1, 2023.

Members of the HSU “Long Reddie Line” spanning from the class of 1953 to 1973 joined together to hear addresses from the Chancellor Dr. Charles Ambrose on the status of Henderson as well as updates on Alumni Affairs and ROTC on campus. Col. (Retired) Bobby Jones of Malvern, an HSU ROTC graduate of the Class of 71, was the guest speaker for the evening. Jones described what it was like in the latter days of the Vietnam Conflict.

The event commemorated the 50-year anniversary of the departure of U.S. combat troops from Vietnam on March 29th, 1973, and a true welcome home to those who served in the conflict.
