Jackie Carolyn Thornton, age 79, of Bismarck passed from this life on Tuesday February 7, 2023, at CHI Advanced Care Unit in Hot Springs. She was born on February 23, 1943, in Whelen Springs the daughter of the late Jason and Frances Jackson Shackelford.

Carolyn retired from the Arkansas Highway department where she worked as an office manager. She enjoyed watching and shopping on the QVC network, casinos, crafting and spending time with her family.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Jeffery Scott and Chris Thornton. 

Survivors are her husband, Paul Thornton of Bismarck, one daughter, Marla Looper (Roy) of Bismarck, two sons, Albert Dean Scott (Debbie) of Bismarck and Chad Thornton of Hot Springs, dauhgter in law, Jeanie Scott of Texas, three sisters, Mona Ashlock of Menifee, Lynette Cornell of Hot Springs and Betsy Riley of Curtis, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Bro. Larry Bloomfield officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Welch Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Grant Thornton, Blake Thornton, Alex Thornton, Ryan Looper, Brad Hurst and Shawn Hurst.
