Light freezing rain expected Wednesday in south Arkansas

National Weather Service (Little Rock)

We are approaching the end of this wild period of winter weather across the state.

Additional winter weather is possible from today through Thursday morning. This appears to be the final round of precipitation. Clark County remains under an Ice Storm Warning on Wednesday morning.

The main timeframe when we expect hazardous winter weather (primarily freezing rain) is from 4 p.m. Wednesday through noon Thursday.

Some light freezing rain is possible from Wednesday morning into the afternoon hours, and coverage should be limited to mainly southern Arkansas.

Some sleet is possible across northern Arkansas Wednesday evening and tonight, but any accumulation would generally be less than a couple tenths of an inch.

After noon Thursday, precipitation is expected to begin to wrap up and move south of the state. Temperatures will warm slightly to above freezing. Dry conditions will be seen statewide by Friday morning and temperatures will warm into the mid-30s to mid-40s by Friday afternoon. Much warmer temperatures are expected by Sunday.
