By ISAAC BOURNE | For The Arkadelphian

At the end of the first quarter in the Arkadelphia Badgers’ 59-28 win over the Centerpoint Knights, the Badgers held a 19-13 lead over the Knights after a buzzer-beating three by Centerpoint. By the end of the second quarter, the Knights had only increased their score by a paltry two points as the Badgers finished the half on a 18-2 run, putting the score at 37-15, never again letting the the Knights within 20 points.

“We take pride in that,” head coach Garrett Garner emphasized about his team. “We’ve held a lot of teams this year to low percentage shooting … We try to pride ourselves on defense, and when we do that it usually creates for our offense.”

The Badger offense was firing on all cylinders in the first half, scoring 37 points before the buzzer to take the Knights out swiftly.

For the Badgers, senior point guard Chris Gray scored 10 of his 12 points on the night in the first half, with two big threes in the first quarter. Sophomore guard O’Bryant Roberts finished with 11 points on three triples.

The Badgers will be back in action Wednesday night on the road against the Hot Springs Trojans, where they hope to build on Tuesday’s big win.
