
James Wesley “Jimmy” Deaton, age 65, of Van Buren, died October 20, 2022, at his home in Van Buren.
Jimmy was born February 10, 1957, at the old Clark County Memorial Hospital in Arkadelphia. He was the son of BW Deaton and Shirley Young Deaton. Jimmy was a member of Third Street Baptist Church. Jimmy was an Arkadelphia High School graduate, class of 1975. Jimmy was a dedicated son to his mother and father, providing for their care until the passing of his father in 2015, at which time he moved to Alma and then to Van Buren.
Survivors include his beloved family, lifelong dear friends, and his beloved dog Freddie. He had one special friend, Ashley Walter, of Fort Smith.
Jimmy never met a stranger, and could strike up a conversation with anyone. From Jimmy himself, “I grew up with more friends than anyone could expect, and they are friends that I will have forever.”
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Jimmy’s life on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m., at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located on Kelley Highway. Services are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
