OBU’s Junior signs with Jags’ practice squad

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Ouachita Baptist University football alumnus Gregory Junior will remain with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars after signing a deal to be on the practice squad heading into the 2022 regular season.

Junior was selected by the Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft this past April, making him the first-ever NFL draftee from Ouachita. He played four seasons with the Tigers, earning All-Great American Conference First Team honors and D2Football.com Elite 100 All-America honors. The Crossett, Arkansas, native graduated from Ouachita in December of 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology.

During the 2022 NFL preseason, Junior played in all four games for the Jags, registering 12 combined tackles, highlighted by a six-tackle performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

By being a part of the practice squad, Junior will remain involved in the everyday operations of the team, and can be called up to the 53-man roster at any time.
