MALVERN — Siplast, a commercial roofing and waterproofing manufacturer located in Arkadelphia, recently donated $10,000 to the Arkansas State University Three Rivers Workforce Development Department to help finance the construction of a new training lab in the ASUTR CAST building.

This lab will be used to expand ASUTR’s training opportunities not only for Siplast but for all business and industry partners within the college’s service area. Additionally, college and high school technical programs will also benefit from the new training lab. The lab will house a tank farm, CNC machines, and hydraulics trainers.

Mason Robinson, ASUTR’s director of workforce development, said, “Our partnership with Siplast has allowed us to provide computer, electrical, technical and leadership training to their employees. Matt Johnson, Siplast HR business partner, has also been instrumental in working with the college to develop the Clark County Workforce Training Group which was an idea birthed in 2019 when I first met Matt.”

The purpose of Clark County Workforce Training Group is to promote collaboration among Clark County business and industry, Henderson State University, ASU Three Rivers, and the Arkadelphia Regional Economic Development Area Alliance & Area Chamber of Commerce (Alliance) to leverage the collective resources of the three entities in support of workforce training and economic development.

“Siplast is committed to strengthening, supporting, and improving its community,” Johnson said. “ASU Three Rivers’ Workforce Development division is a key ally in achieving our goal. Workforce development helps create economic prosperity for individuals, businesses and communities.”

“Our donation is motivated by our common mission and our trust in ASUTR Workforce Development as a strategic partner,” Johnson continued. “Siplast looks forward to seeing the continued positive impact on our area through the work of ASUTR’s Workforce Development division and is excited to continue to collaborate with them in our joint efforts.”
