Winds cause damage overnight

What were likely straight-line winds swept through the Arkadelphia area early Sunday morning, pushing trees over roadways and onto at least two homes.

A crew works Monday morning to patch an enormous hole in a roof at Mill Creek and Forest Park. A Westgate home the cup de sac behind the pictured home sustained major sage as well.

A tree blocked Country Club Road near its intersection with Friendship Drive.

South Central Electric Cooperative was reporting 810 power outages at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Entergy customers south of Walnut Street in the area of Elaine Street and Golden Street had no electricity.

Tate Chanler, director of Clark County Office of Emergency Management, was expected to phone the National Weather Service to ascertain what caused the damages.

Arkadelphia Fire Chief Jason Hunt said firefighters responded to seven weather-related calls and/or reports of trees or large limbs falling onto power lines.
