The public is invited Thursday to attend the annual Clark County Veterans Day event, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at the Courthouse lawn.

Following opening remarks from Shanna Donohue Simpson, there will be the traditional 11 O’clock Bell Tone and a posting of the colors by the Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University Color Guard.
MaKenna Schaeffer will sing the National Anthem.
Bro. Greg Lathem of Third Street Baptist Church will deliver the prayer, followed by a Shanna Simpson-led Pledge of Allegiance. Michael Lester, US Army ret., will give the welcome. Doyle Sharp, commander of Arkadelphia Post 57 American Legion, will brief the audience on how Veterans Day was established.
Clark County Veteran Service Officer Louis A. Craig will introduce the guest speaker, LCDR Robert “Pete” Petersen, U.S. Navy ret., District 4 Arkansas Department of Veteran Affairs.
Before Petersen takes center stage, Georgina Battle Wright will sing, “An American Tribute.”

James Jackson, Arkadelphia High School JROTC, will play “Taps.”
Simpson will deliver the final remarks, followed by gifts to Delton Simpson and Michael Lester.
Supt. Robert L. Davis will deliver the benediction.
