Tigers move up in Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS — The Ouachita Baptist University football team improved its position in the NCAA Division II Regional Rankings with its road win over East Central this past Saturday.

The Tigers moved up one spot to No. 7 in this week’s Super Region Three rankings, released on Monday. The top seven advance to the playoffs at the end of the regular season.

Ouachita has two tough tests in as many weeks to close out the 2021 regular season. The Tigers take on Southeastern Oklahoma State this Saturday at home, and then play host to Henderson State for the Battle of the Ravine in the regular season finale. Both opponents are ranked in the top 10 of the region this week.

The Tigers are seeking their fourth straight NCAA playoffs appearance, and fifth overall.

Also in this week in rankings news, the Tigers moved up one spot to No. 5 nationally in the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 poll for NCAA Division II. It is the highest national rank for the Tigers this season.
