ARKADELPHIA β Henderson State held steady at No. 6 in the second edition of the NCAA DII Central Region Rankings on Monday afternoon.
The Reddies, who are 8-1 and coming off of a 34-3 win over Southern Nazarene on Saturday, remain in the projected field with two weeks remaining in the regular season. HSU moved up two spots in this week’s separate AFCA Top-25 poll are are now No. 16 nationally.
The top seven teams in the final rankings at the end of the year will earn bids to the 2021 NCAA DII Playoffs. The No. 1 seed will receive a bye and the No. 2-4 seeds will host first round games.
Four GAC teams remain in the latest region rankings: No. 2 Harding, No. 6 Henderson, No. 7 Ouachita Baptist and No. 9 Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Henderson is in search of its first NCAA Playoff appearance since 2015. The Reddies control their own destiny and can clinch a share of the GAC title, and likely a bid to the playoffs, with wins in the their final two regular season contests on the road at Oklahoma Baptist and Ouachita.
