RUSSELLVILLE — After terrific performances in the blowout win over East Central on Saturday, Henderson State quarterback Adam Morse and defensive back Dedric O’Bryant were named the GAC’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week on Monday.

Morse, from Groves, Texas, led the Reddie offense to a dominant showing in the 59-24 win over the Tigers and finished 20-of-30 through the air for 357 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran six times for 33 yards and another 12-yard score to account for seven total touchdowns.
O’Bryant, from Huntsville, Texas, picked off two passes to lead the Henderson defense and also broke up an ECU pass in the end zone on 4th-and-Goal to end a Tiger drive in the second quarter.
Through six games, Morse has been one of the best all-around quarterbacks in the country and has thrown for 1726 yards and 20 touchdowns while completing 68.5% of his passes. In his first season as the starter, the sixth-year senior has thrown multiple touchdown passes in every game and has connected with seven different players for scores.
On the defensive side, O’Bryant leads the GAC in interceptions this season with four — a mark which is tied for second nationally. He has also been excellent in pass coverage and has six pass breakups and 10 passes defended this fall.
The GAC weekly award is the first of both players careers. They are the fourth and fifth Reddies this season to win a conference Player of the Week honor.
No. 9 Henderson State (6-0) faces its toughest test of the season on Saturday when it hosts No. 21 Harding at 2 p.m. inside Carpenter-Haygood Stadium and Ruggles Field.–
