RUSSELLVILLE — Ouachita Baptist University juniors Gracen Turner and Ashlyn Lynch have been selected as Great American Conference women’s soccer players of the week.
Turner has been named the league’s offensive player of the week for having game-winning goals in each of Ouachita’s wins last week on the road. The Cabot native scored in the 31st minute of a 4-1 win over Southern Nazarene on Thursday, and then scored the lone goal in a win over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday in the 86th minute.
Lynch earned the league’s defender of the week award after helping the Tigers (6-1-1, 3-0 GAC) stay in first place in the GAC as the league’s only unbeaten team in conference games. The Houston, Texas native also aided in Ouachita’s league-leading average of 0.5 goals allowed per game.
These are the first weekly conference awards for both Turner and Lynch, but the GAC recognition is familiar for Ouachita, which has had a player selected for four consecutive weeks.
Turner, Lynch, and the rest of the Tigers look for their seventh consecutive victory this Thursday, October 7 at home against Southwestern Oklahoma State. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Kluck Field.
