Barbara was born Feb 23, 1949, in Curtis, Arkansas to the loving parents Sam Horton and Ietta Mitchell Horton.
Barbara graduated from Peake High School in Arkadelphia, Arkansas in 1967. She attended college at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff before moving to Wichita, Kansas, with the love of her life Clarence Smith.
Barbara landed a career at Boeing Aircraft in Production Management with a rewarding career of 27 years.
She always had an affectionate smile and willingness to help anyone in need. She loved spending time with all her grandchildren and they each all had a special relationship with her. Barbara was a mom not only to her children but affectionately referred to as Mama Barb to others as well. She had a strong faith and love for the Lord.
Peacefully departed this life on September 15, 2026, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was welcomed home by her parents; her sisters, Henry Etta (2013) and Mattie Armstrong (2020); three brothers, Maurice (2010), Samuel, Sr. (2013) and Donald Horton (2025) and her sister-in-law Bernis (2011); granddaughter Sasha Smith (2023).
Barbara is survived by her brother Jerry Horton, McKinney, Tx; three children, Sean Smith (Dawnyelle) of Mansfield, Tx, Sonya Drayer of Grand Prairie, Tx and Shani Smith of Arlington, Tx; six grandchildren, Shaniya Willis, Cedric Drayer, Sean Smith II, Jason Bennett, Sterling Smith and Chace Smith.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Williams Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
