Cooler conditions could be coming with weekend rain

Upcoming rain chances could temper the sweltering heat Arkansans have experienced of late.

Cooler conditions are possible over the weekend into early next week owing to increasing rain chances, the National Weather Service in Little Rock said.

As highs continue to linger around the 90-degree mark in the daytime, showers and thunderstorms are likely on their way to the Arkadelphia area starting Friday morning, June 12, with a high approaching 86. Chance of precipitation is 60%, with new rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch possible. Chances decrease to 20% Friday evening through Saturday morning, with another round of showers possible Saturday night. Saturday will otherwise be mostly sunny.

The forecast is calling for showers and thunderstorms to return Sunday, with a 70% chance of precipitation throughout the day under otherwise partly sunny or cloudy skies.

Sunday’s high will be around 85, with a nighttime low of 66.

Monday’s high temperature will reach about 77 as more showers and storms are possible. Monday’s chance of precipitation is 60%, falling to 30% that evening. Monday’s low will be in the mid 60s.

The extended forecast is calling for clear skies to return by midday Tuesday, with highs in the mid to upper 80s Tuesday and Wednesday and lows in the mid 60s.
