Temperatures will be cooler over the next week compared to what they have been, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
Daytime highs in Arkadelphia will be in the low to mid 80s through Sunday, June 7, with nightly lows in the mid 60s.
Several dry days are expected before rain chances return late in the weekend and into early next week.
The extended forecast for Arkadelphia includes slight chances of showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, with greater chances coming Saturday (40%) and Sunday (80%).
Following the weekend, precipitation chances remain in the forecast through at least Tuesday, with highs pushing into the high 80s and lows in the low 70s.
Much of Clark County remains under Extreme Drought, according to the latest U.S. drought monitor map, released May 26.
Though it may feel like summer, the astronomical start of the season begins Sunday, June 21. The date also marks the longest period of sunlight for the calendar year.
