HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas — Mid-America Science Museum will open its newest traveling exhibition, Expedition: Dinosaur, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the museum’s Hall of Wonder. Developed by Stage 9 Exhibits, the interactive exhibition will remain on display through Aug. 16.
Expedition: Dinosaur explores the science of paleontology through life-size animatronic dinosaurs and hands-on educational experiences. The exhibition features 11 fully robotic dinosaurs with realistic movement and sound, allowing visitors to encounter species such as Stegosaurus, Velociraptor, Triceratops, Amargasaurus, and Albertosaurus.
The exhibition also features interactive elements that highlight how scientists study dinosaurs and their fossils. Visitors can dig for fossils, examine specimens through a Wentzscope, explore a paleontologist’s field tent inspired by the historic “Bone Wars,” and use a robotic arm to scan and rotate simulated dinosaur eggs. Additional activities include an augmented reality topography sandbox, fossil excavation stations, a Pangea puzzle, and a large dinosaur jaw photo opportunity.
“We’ve worked with Stage 9 Exhibits on several traveling exhibitions over the years,” said Diane LaFollette, CEO of Mid-America Science Museum. “Partnerships like this allow us to bring large-scale, interactive experiences to Hot Springs that might otherwise only appear in much larger cities. With Expedition: Dinosaur, visitors can encounter lifelike animatronic dinosaurs while also learning how paleontologists excavate fossils and interpret what they find.”
Stage 9 Exhibits has previously partnered with Mid-America Science Museum to present exhibitions including The Lost World of Dragons, Toytopia, Expedition Dinosaur: Rise of the Mammals, and Hall of Heroes.
Expedition: Dinosaur is included with regular admission at Mid-America Science Museum, located at 500 Mid America Blvd. in Hot Springs. For exhibit hours and ticket information, visit www.midamericamuseum.org or call 501-767-3461.
