Rain chances on rise Friday, Saturday; Easter forecast calls for sunshine

Much of Arkansas has a “decent” chance of receiving in excess of 1.5 inches of rain in coming days, the National Weather Service in Little Rock said.

Rainfall chances will be on the increase with Friday and Saturday, April 3-4, looking to the be wettest days. Temperature-wise, a few more warm days will give way to cooler highs with much-needed rainfall on the increase.

The latest extended forecast for the Arkadelphia area calls for a 20% chance of showers before dawn Thursday, followed by an increase of precipitation chances of 60% later that morning, with thunderstorms possible after 10 a.m. The daytime high of 80 will fall to 62 that night.

A chance of showers returns Friday, with thunderstorms possible around midday under mostly cloudy skies and a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday night, with a 60% chance of rainfall and a low around 59.

Saturday is calling for a 90% chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm, with a high near 70 and wind gusts of up to 15 mph. Precipitation moves out of the area late Saturday, giving way to sunny skies Easter Sunday and a high of 67.

Additional rainfall may be possible into the second week of April.
