Rain, storms return to forecast

The National Weather Service in Little Rock says the upcoming forecast pattern favors wet and stormy conditions over the southern central U.S. through the coming week. This means a few rounds of thunderstorms and beneficial rainfall will be possible for Arkansas as early as mid-week, with another round of storms possible Saturday, April 4.

By mid-week, the forecast favors a few rounds of rain and thunderstorm chances for much of Arkansas.

The extended forecast for the Arkadelphia area calls for a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms developing late Wednesday night; Wednesday will be otherwise partly sunny and windy with gusts as high as 20 mph. Wednesday’s high will be 83.

By Thursday, precipitation chances increase to 70%, with showers likely and a thunderstorm possibly that afternoon. Thursday will also be a windy one, with a 5-10 mph south-southwest wind with gusts as high as 30 mph. Thursday’s high will be in the upper 70s.

Showers and thunderstorms should continue into Thursday night and Friday afternoon.

The forecast, which could change, currently calls for a 40% chance of rain Friday night, 50% Saturday, and 30% Sunday.

Highs this week will be in the low 80s through Thursday, with lows hovering around 60.

Clark County remains under D2 Severe or D3 Extreme drought, depending on location. The drought monitor includes six levels of drought, from None to D4 Exceptional Drought.
