Severe weather possible late Friday

Scattered severe thunderstorms will be possible over the western half of Arkansas Friday evening through late Friday night, March 6, the National Weather Service in Little Rock said in a briefing.

All severe hazards will be possible, including damaging winds, hail and a few tornadoes.

The storms were expected to arrive in the Arkadelphia area after 4 p.m.

On Saturday, the southeastern portion of the state may experience heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.

There will be multiple chances for severe weather next week for portions of Arkansas, particularly on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 10-11.

Several rounds of precipitation are expected over the next 7 days, with new rainfall amounts likely improving ongoing drought conditions across the state.

Southwest Arkansas, including the Arkadelphia area, is forecast to receive 4-6 inches of rain through March 12.
