A White Hall man is in Clark County custody on charges of kidnapping after a brief manhunt led to his arrest.
At about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, a woman reported to the Arkadelphia Police Department that she had received notification of a Ring doorbell video that showed her daughter being the victim of domestic violence outside her Village Drive home. Detectives were able to obtain copies of the video, which reportedly showed the female and her juvenile son being taken from the home.
Police identified the suspect as Michael Earnest Sloan, 39, of White Hall, and issued a BOLO (be on the lookout for) for Sloan, his vehicle and the victims. Police would learn that Sloan had a brother living in Garland County (Hot Springs area) and notified law enforcement in that jurisdiction of the events that had unfolded in Arkadelphia.
At about 10:05 a.m., Sloan was captured in Garland County by officers with Arkansas State Police and the Garland County Sheriff’s Office; the victim and her child were safely recovered. Sloan was arrested and transported to the Clark County Detention Center on police charges of kidnapping and domestic battery. Formal charges will be determined by 9E Prosecuting Attorney Dan Turner.
“We cannot express enough our relief that the victims are unharmed and were recovered safely,” said Arkadelphia Police Chief Jason “Shorty” Jackson. “I would like to thank APD Lt. Dustin O’Brien, Agent Brent Whitworth and the Arkadelphia Patrol Division, Sheriff Jason Watson and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Garland County Sheriff’s Office, Hot Springs Police Department, and Arkansas State Police. Without their help and hard work this incident could have had a much different and tragic outcome.”
Criminal charges are merely accusations. A defendant who is arrested or charged is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
