A system of widespread rain and thunderstorms is predicted this weekend, Feb. 13-14, for much of Arkansas, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.

Following a chance of light rain Tuesday, the weather pattern should become slightly more active with a second round in the Thursday to Friday time range. At this time, severe weather appears unlikely. Temperatures will be well above average through mid week with temperatures returning closer to normal by late week.

Arkadelphia’s extended forecast is calling for a chance of rainfall Friday through Saturday, with chances building from 40% to 80% over the 24-hour period. There is a chance for both showers and thunderstorms, according to the forecast.

The weather service says the southern two-thirds of the state could get between 1 to 1.5 inches of rain during the weekend showers.

The precipitation should move out of the region beginning Sunday as clear skies return through at least Monday.

Daytime highs this week will range from the lower to higher 60s, with lows in the 40s and 50s.
