Henderson posts strong enrollment growth for Spring 2026

A surge in transfer students at Henderson State University this spring, along with significant growth in freshman, sophomore, and junior enrollment, has led to an overall 9% increase in enrollment for Spring 2026.

Preliminary 11th-day reporting shows a total of 1,976 students enrolled, compared to 1,820 in Spring 2025. The freshman class numbers climbed by 39% with 465 students versus 335 in 2025. There are 295 sophomores compared to 256 last spring, and the junior class increased from 275 students to 298.

Transfer enrollment reached a six-year high point with 92 transfer students enrolled this spring, compared to 66 in 2025, reflecting a 39% increase.

“We are excited to celebrate a strong Spring 2026 enrollment at Henderson State University, with total enrollment increasing by nearly 9% compared to last year,” said Chancellor Dr. Trey Berry. “This growth reflects the dedication and commitment of our faculty and staff, the continued support of our alumni and friends, and the growing confidence students place in the quality and value of a Henderson education.

“We are especially encouraged by the 39% increase in our freshman class and a six-year high in transfer enrollment, also up more than 39%. Together, these gains demonstrate positive momentum and a bright future for our Reddie community.”

Dr. Celya Taylor, provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs, said, “Our emphasis on student-focused advising, tutoring, and campus life help create a thriving academic community to support students to degree completion. We welcome the opportunity to engage with students and help them achieve their goals.”

Preliminary admissions reports currently show increases of 15% in applications and 40% in admits for Fall 2026.
