Emergency bridge repairs on Highway 51 near Gurdon require immediate closure

From the Arkansas Department of Transportation

As of Thursday, January 8, the bridge over McNeeley Creek on Highway 51 southwest of Gurdon was closed following a routine bridge inspection. The bridge will remain closed around the clock until further notice.

Weather permitting, the closure will allow crews to repair the substructure of the bridge. The highway will remain open to local traffic only on either side of the closure.

To reach the north side of the closure, take Highway 51 south to Highway 53 north to Highway 67 west, back to Highway 51.

To reach the south side of the closure, take Highway 51 north to Highway 67 east to Highway 53 south, back to Highway 51.

Digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage will be in place to notify motorists of the closures.
