As of mid-December 2025, Randy Plyler with Plyler Outdoors Guide Service said that with water temps in the low to mid-50s, bass can be caught on Alabama rigs or shaky head minnow by looking at your LiveScope and look for balls of baitfish. Also, bass can be caught on lipless crankbaits and crankbaits running to 12 feet deep along the moss and close to ledges. Some have been caught on jigs in 15 feet.

Crappie can be caught on minnows and jigs in 15-25 feet on brush and standing timber.

“You want to catch a fish of a lifetime folks, this is the starting time of the year to catch one,” Plyler said, noting that in early December there was a whopping 14.2-pound largemouth bass caught on DeGray using a shaky head minnow by LiveScoping.
