ARDOT begins Caddo River bridge project

More orange barrels are in place along main thoroughfares in Arkadelphia as the Arkansas Department of Transportation makes way for a major bridge replacement.

ARDOT’s latest Clark County project began in the days after the Christmas 2025 holiday. Other ongoing projects include the Arkadelphia Bypass and the widening of Pine Street from 10th to 26th streets to include a turn lane.

Identified as ARDOT Job 070509, it is a bridge replacement project for the Caddo River bridge structure and approaches on US Highway 67 where Arkadelphia’s northern city limits end and Caddo Valley’s city limits begin.

The new bridge will be located west of the existing structure. Though delays are to be expected during certain portions of the job, traffic on the old bridge will be maintained throughout the course of the project, according to documents related to the job.

The new structure will be approximately 1,137 feet long and 52 feet wide and will consist of three 255-foot composite prestressed concrete girder units and one 370-foot continuous composite plate girder unit. A multi-use path will be built on the west, or upstream side, of the bridge, as well as a walkway on its east side.

Robertson Contractors Inc. was awarded the contract. The company was among six contractors who placed a bid for the project, bidding $19.19 million for the total bid, with a bridge cost of $13.9 million.

The project is estimated to be complete by late 2027.
