Matthew Tyler Cochran, 29, of Malvern, passed away on December 19, 2025, in Hot Springs at National Park Medical Center. He was born on November 22, 1996, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia to Tessa Jackson. Tyler was employed by Hardman Lumber Company in Hot Springs, AR, and was a 2015 graduate of Sparkman High School.
Tyler loved spending time with his Papaw, hunting, fishing, coaching youth baseball, and tinkering on anything he could get his hands on. He loved traveling—especially to the beach, kayaking, collecting Pokémon cards, and playing PlayStation. He treasured time with his kids, whether they were outside exploring, laughing at home, or just hanging out. When their friends came over, he’d jump right in and turn into a big kid himself.
He and his wife were inseparable, always happiest doing life side by side. He also enjoyed working on their small farm, taking care of the animals, and tackling projects together as a family. He loved being around family and friends, whether they were sharing a meal, sitting around a fire, or just catching up. He loved his job and the people he worked with; they were like a second family to him. He had a huge heart and loved helping people—he would do anything for anyone without thinking twice. Tyler was preceded in death by his Mamaw, Theresa Butler, as well as many other beloved family members.
He is survived by his wife, Samantha Linn, and bonus son, Cooper Collins, both of the home; his daughter, Gracelynn (Gracey) Cochran of De Soto, Iowa; his mom, Tessa Jackson (Casey) of Redfield, AR; one sister, Trinity Jennings (Dawson) and nephew Henry Jennings, all of Sheridan; one brother, Troy Kinder of Sheridan; a bonus brother, Conner Jackson of Sheridan; his beloved Papaw, Roy Butler (Cathy) of Sparkman, AR; as well as many uncles, cousins, bonus children, family, bonus family, and friends — though to Tyler, everyone was family.
Tyler gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation, continuing to help others in death just as he helped everyone he knew in life.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Welch’s Funeral Home (202 S 4th St, Arkadelphia), with cremation to follow.
