Mary Sue Taylor, age 90, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. She was born February 20, 1935, in Rison, the daughter of the late Rev. Manuel E. and Estelle Baker Scott.
Mary Sue was a graduate of Stamps High School and a graduate of Henderson State University with a BSE and MSE in counseling. She worked at the Children’s Colony, Chidester School system, Camden School District and the Malvern School District during her career as an elementary Counselor. Mary Sue was a member of First United Methodist Church and New Life Church in Arkadelphia. She enjoyed tennis, traveling, spending time at the beach and was an elite senior swimmer. Mary Sue was a true care giver and spent her entire life helping other people from all walks of life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, JR Taylor, her grandson, Jacob Thomas, one brother, Rev. Bob Scott, two sisters, Martha Price and Charlotte Turner.
Survivors are one daughter, Charlotte Cox of Arkadelphia, two sons, Jay Taylor (Mary) of Arkadelphia and Mark Taylor (Lisa) of Arkadelphia, one sister, Beth Turner of Morrilton, nine grandchildren, Jayme Pratt (Clay), Amy Poole (Caleb), Joshua Thomas (Kristen), Richard Thomas, Kristen Taylor, Jon Mark Taylor, Ryan Scott Taylor (Lauren), Micah Thomas (Makayla) and William Noah Thomas, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia with Rev. Zeke Allen, Julia Beth Turner and Pastor Martin Jones officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
