ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas — The dogs and cats housed at the Humane Society of Clark County animal shelter will have a cozier winter thanks to the donation and installation of building materials by a local industrial plant.
For the past two years, employees of Siplast have dedicated volunteered workdays at the animal shelter. In addition to aiding with daily shelter operations, Siplast helped to winterize the shelter with its donation of Monarflex building wrap, which is used to wrap exterior kennel structures to create a protective barrier against wind and rain, helping keep the indoor environment warm and dry throughout the winter months.
“Many of our volunteers are pet owners themselves, so this partnership is especially meaningful,” said Mick Handloser, senior training specialist at Siplast. “Being able to use our products and our time to support the Humane Society of Clark County is incredibly rewarding. It’s a great way for us to give back while making a real, tangible difference for these animals and the people who care for them every day.”
The project is part of Siplast’s RISE (Responsibility, Involvement, Service, and Engagement) program. Through its RISE initiatives, Siplast remains committed to supporting both the built environment and the communities where its employees live and work.
Founded in 1989, the Humane Society of Clark County is a nonprofit organization serving the Arkadelphia community. As the only 501(c)(3) no-kill animal shelter in Clark County, the organization provides shelter, medical care, spay and neuter services, and adoption programs for abandoned and stray animals, while also promoting responsible pet ownership through community outreach and education. The shelter relies heavily on volunteer support, donations, and grants to continue its lifesaving work.
“Siplast fills a big hole in our winter preparations when they come and help with the winterization project,” said Leslie Kent, director of the animal shelter. “It’s a big relief to us and makes a tremendous amount of difference — it meets a very, very important need.”
Siplast’s Monarflex® is a high-performance polyethylene building wrap designed to provide effective protection against air infiltration, wind penetration, and moisture intrusion. Lightweight, durable, and easy to install, Monarflex® is widely used in construction environments where temporary or supplemental weather protection is required, making it well-suited for safeguarding outdoor kennel structures during harsh weather conditions.
