Jimmie Derrell Howard, Sr, age 86, of Murfreesboro, passed from this life on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at his home. He was born August 16, 1939, in England, AR, the son of the late Eugene Wesley and Edith Ruth Gillick Howard.
Jimmie was a 1957 graduate of Central High School. He was a United States Airforce veteran. Jimmie was self employed and owned and operated the Riverside Motel for 20 years and also worked for HUD in Pike County for 18 years. He was a member of Living Rock Church in Nashville. Jimmie enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Bill Talley, two sisters, Jennie Ruth Stane and Barbara Isclaw.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia Miller Howard of Murfreesboro, one son, Jimmie Derrell Howard, Jr. (Ashley) of Murfreesboro, one daughter, Jennifer Michelle Wright (Dary) of Murfreesboro, ten grandchildren, Bradley Caleb Howard, Joshua Aaron Howard, Corey Andrew Kosters, Savanna Evelyn Stenrodden, Zackary Cole Kosters, Will Nathanial Kosters, Tabitha Wray Wright, Logan Adam Wright, Bradley Denton and Austin Denton, and twenty great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2025, at Pike City Cemetery with Bro. Joe Kelley officiating.
Pallbearers are Brad Howard, Josh Howard, Corey Kosters, Zack Kosters, Will Kosters and Logan Wright.
Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Womack and Mike Cooper.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pike Cemetery Fund.
