Clark County’s labor force exceeds 10,000

Clark County’s unemployment rate for September 2025, not seasonally adjusted, is at 4.8%, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released this week by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.

According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 10,035 persons with 9,550 employed and 485 unemployed. The unemployment rate four-tenths of a percentage point from the August report of 5.2%. During that period the labor force grew by 146 from 9,889 persons.

For the same period in 2024, Clark County reported an unemployment rate of 3.9% with a labor force of 8,970 persons.

For this recent period, Clark County reported the second-highest labor force of the seven-county area surveyed, second to Hot Spring County.

Statewide, Arkansas’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate was at 3.9%, a decrease of one-tenth of a percentage point since the previous report. There were 1.37 million Arkansas residents employed in September, with 55,750 unemployed. The U.S. jobless rate was at 4.4%, with 163 million employed and 7.6 million unemployed.

The unemployment rate for these Southwest Arkansas counties surveyed from August to September are listed with their county seat in parentheses: i.e., Clark County (Arkadelphia):

The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) fell to 4.2%, compared to 5.7% in August. Nevada County reports a labor force of 4,340.

The unemployment rate for Ouachita County (Camden) fell to 5.1%, compared to 5.2% in August. Ouachita County reports a labor force of 9,137.

The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) rose to 5.2%, compared to 5% in August. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 3,102.

The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) rose to 4.7%, compared to 4.6% in August. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,260.

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) fell to 4.3%, compared to 4.4% in August. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,737.

The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) rose to 4.2%, compared to 4% in August. Pike County reports a labor force of 4,340.

The unemployment rate for Garland County (Hot Springs) rose to 4.5%, compared to 4.2% in August. Garland County reports a labor force of 43,646.

The unemployment rate for Saline County (Benton) rose to 3.5%, compared to 3.4% in August. Saline County reports a labor force of 67,404.
