The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

The suspect, 24-year-old Brannon Zion Hatley, was not arrested at the time, but jail records and a separate felony incident report, filed the next day, indicates that Hatley was arrested for aggravated assault on a family or household member. Police were called to Mill Creek Apartments, 1607 Welch St., where a tenant, having been awakened the previous night (Halloween) by knocking at his door, fired several rounds from his pistol into the walls and ceiling. Admitting that he’d had a few too many alcoholic beverages the night before, the resident said he feared that someone was breaking into his apartment when he started shooting; he returned to bed when the knocking stopped. Greeting the next morning somewhat clear-headed, he saw the holes in the walls and emailed the property manager to make her aware of the damages. Police checked the adjacent apartment, where no damage was noted. There had been no noise complaints or disturbances reported from any neighbors. The tenant was told that, while he has the right to defend himself and his property, he should call the police the next time he feels threatened.
